Saudi Arabia’s strategic pursuit of economic diversification has proven to be a game-changer, transforming the nation into a thriving employment hub. Fueled by ambitious giga-projects like NEOM and in line with Vision 2030, the country’s monumental developments are on track to reduce oil dependency and strengthen the private sector.
Amid concerns about job creation post-giga-project completion, experts are optimistic about the future trajectory of employment opportunities. Grace Najjar, Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the Project Management Institute, asserts that the promise for jobs extends beyond Vision 2030’s fulfillment.
“As Saudi Arabia and the region move away from oil dependence, there’s a promise for jobs,” Najjar states, emphasizing the continuous massive investments in infrastructure, tourism, and transportation megaprojects by the Saudi government.
The Kingdom’s booming job market is anticipated to witness a rise in project management-oriented roles across various sectors, including manufacturing, construction, finance, insurance, information, publishing, and management services. This surge in demand for project management skills indicates a promising outlook for the employment landscape in the next decade.
Despite an expected slight growth rate adjustment in the oil and gas sector, Saudi Arabia’s labor force remains robust, steadily diversifying away from oil dependence. The Kingdom’s impressive labor force growth rate surpasses that of other G20 countries, promising a wide array of opportunities as it embraces a diversified economy.
Saudi Arabia’s strategic vision and commitment to economic diversification are laying the foundation for sustained job growth, ensuring a brighter and more promising future for the nation’s workforce. As the country continues to flourish beyond the completion of giga-projects, it is poised to solidify its position as a vibrant employment destination for years to come.
